Prom Dress Shopping

Published by anajz under Personal Stuff, ebay

The two month e-hiatus is over and we are getting back on track. The winter blahs will soon be replaced with thoughts of spring and spring activities…prom, graduation, babies, and even wedding plans…not necessarily in that order or one immediately following the other.
In our household, we are looking at Prom dresses, which sent me to the bridal store for inspiration. Hais is 6′2″, so formal dress shopping is quite a chore! There are so many wonderful designs in the stores, many with wonderfully hefty price tags included. Choosing a pattern and a seamstress is often a great choice for the possibility of saving a bit of money or, in our case, getting the perfect fit.
One of the formal dress patterns that we listed in our store last week is very similar to one of the past prom dresses from this household. The dress was a huge hit!

Another similar choice is the McCall’s Pattern M5807. I would prefer to see Hais choose View A…the wedding gown version in a beautiful black, shimmery lace overlay.
Unfortunately, Mom’s do not always get their way.

With Prom coming up in April, choices must be made and a more proficient seamstress found.

CyberMonday Event Set on Facebook

Published by anajz under bonanzle, ebay, etsy, facebook

Everyone wants a successful, BLACK holiday season. Retailers call their break even day BLACK Friday….online retailers call it CYBER MONDAY. eBay, etsy, and Bonanzle sellers are no different….we all want a GREEN HOLIDAY. With all the auctions and seller booths out there, we often need to find ways of gaining more customers to our own sites. Simply My Business has created the CYBER MONDAY PARTY event on Facebook. Anyone is welcome to join…buyers and sellers alike.

A successful holiday selling season is definitely time consuming and a considerable amount of work, but we can make it a fun gathering of the minds and the goods at the CYBER MONDAY PARTY.

Games and drawings for some cool prizes will add to the celebration on Monday, November 30th, but don’t wait until then to get started. Go upload some of your items TODAY! OH…and bring your friends!

theinsidesource new ebay magazine

Published by anajz under ebay

Exciting news, but I am a little late in reporting it. eBay now has its own online magazine, The Inside Source. The front page offers the “Most Watched Now” and “Most Searched Now” on eBay. Another interesting feature is that you may log in from your facebook account.

The following is from the magazine ABOUT page…

“As the world’s largest online marketplace comprised of 88 million active users, eBay is uniquely equipped to serve as a cultural barometer – its global community helps set and forecast global shopping trends daily through their searches, purchases and live sales.

The Inside Source (http://www.theinsidesource.com) is a digital media destination that harnesses the eBay shopping community’s real time buying and selling activity to curate proprietary insights that shape the retail industry and American consumer’s lifestyles. The Inside Source offers fresh, original perspective and editorial content, such as feature articles and opinion pieces written by journalists and shopping specialists, that provides an insider look at what’s hot and what’s next.

Visit The Inside Source daily to catch up on the latest mainstream and niche trends, peruse our multimedia gallery of videos and photos, post comments and share ideas with likeminded trendsetters from next door and abroad. You can also submit story ideas to our editors; like the global marketplace that inspires us, The Inside Source is listening and wants to hear from you.

We trendspot. You trendset.”

No Tricks, Only Treats for My eBay Customers

Published by anajz under ebay

Fall is here and Halloween is around the corner. eBay sales have been picking up and we are trying some new marketing with paid advertising, auction bumps, and such.
Thanking our customers is important to us and I have been looking for some kind of gift to include with every order. Because we are small, cost per item has limited the availability of choices.
This month, I have been including a small candy treat with each purchase and have attached it to this card…..

Though this card has been sent out with several orders, the more I looked at it, the more I wondered if it was a bit “corny”….so I went to work trying to reword it. This is what I have come up with so far….

What do you think? Are both equally corny? Do you have a suggestion for better wording? I am always looking for new ideas…tell me yours!

Home Office Organization

Published by anajz under being organized?, eBay office, ebay

Still looking for ideas to make my eBay office more efficient and thereby more pleasurable and productive. I am still have difficulty being organized with how listed auctions are kept separate from pending. I started containers of items that needed to be photographed, items awaiting listing, and items that had been sent to auction. That was fine until I started having some auctions not sell.
When an auction does not sell, I sometimes go back and take more photos, or rewrite the auction description or possibly even decide to hold back on it for a few weeks before re-listing. Where does it go from there? That entire system is a now a mess again.
The other area that continues to be a complete cog in the wheel of my success is the “shipping station”. Quotation marks should be followed by a huge belly laugh because it is NO station at all. A few shelves stuffed with different sizes and types of envelopes and mailers. USPS Priority Boxes stacked in a box beside and the small space I had set aside to actually wrap packages up…..well, I cannot see one inch of it because it is covered in more envelopes and stacks of boxes that will not fit anywhere else. In addition, those containers full of awaiting auctions are blocking the front of it.
I am a sad excuse of a home office manager, aren’t I? Productivity is thwarted by my lack of organization. So here it goes….I am asking for your ideas and suggestions for what makes your home office more productive. What tools of the trade save you time and help you be more successful? What organization tips have you learned or want to try? Feel free to comment away…I AM LISTENING…errrr READING!

I had loads of fun waiting to see who won each of the number prizes. Before I announce the winner of the gift card, I want to send a special thank you out to Tommy Price from Hound Dog Trading Company for all of his help and ideas for getting my page off to a good start. If you are not already a fan, I strongly urge you to step on over there and become one immediately. Tommy fills our days and nights with inspirational quips that are always uplifting and thought provoking. Thanks Tommy, you are a Prince!

Goals, goals, and MORE goals!

Published by anajz under ebay, facebook

Goals are like planning a vacation. If you don’t know where you are going, how are you going to know when you have arrived? With that in mind, I have set a couple of quick, short-term goals.

#1
I will have 101 Fans on my Facebook Simply My Business Fan Page by midnight on September 26, 2009. To make this proposition more fun, I am having at least one drawing when the goal is reached. At 101 fans, there will be a drawing for a $20 McDonald’s Gift Certificate. I have some other tricks up my sleeve for the time it takes to build to that 101 fans, also….so stay tuned!

#2
I will have 1000 eBay feedback ratings by Thanksgiving. I am only 157 away from that amount, so it is definitely attainable.

The Simply My Business eBay store is going to grow by leaps and bounds over these next 6 weeks. Hope you will check us out and feel free to leave comments/suggestions for reaching either of my goals.
