The night (or should I saw weee hours of the morning) is winding down and I decided to check in on a few different websites. My eyes are a bit blurry, but I am just not quite ready to hit the hay…..so….perusing the ol’ computer just for fun seemed like a good way to relax and wind down a bit. At least that was the plan! But, oh no, I just HAD to go over toUpromise.com
to check our totals for Hais’ college fund….and to my great surprise I found that our total is up to $642. WOW! That will pay for almost two semesters of textbooks….double WooHoo!
We have been members of Upromisefor a few years now, but it wasn’t until this last year that I began making an effort toward earning money. I thought it would be difficult, but now I look at it as a game of sorts. A money tree game…haha! Now, anytime that I know I need to make a specific purchase, I go to the Upromise.com
site to compare prices. Every now and again I may not find what I am looking for, but most of the time not only do I find a bargain, but I generally find a discount or free shipping because I am a Upromise member.
This summer, I knew I needed to purchase a window air conditioner and that I would most likely purchase it from WalMart (for lack of any resource out here in the middle of nowhere). I researched the different models on the upromise WalMart website. I was able to read the reviews of each and when I finally decided which model would fit our needs to best, I called our local store to see if it was in stock. Yes, it was, but for almost $30 more than what was online. WalMart has site-to-store where shipping is either free or .97 cents…so it was a no-brainer to purchase the unit online.
Currently, WalMart only offers a 1% upromise contribution, but I maximized my earnings by using our Upromise credit card. I was actually pretty proud of myself for not only earning and saving enough to offset our taxes, but also add to our Upromise totals.
I believe in upromise enough that I became an affiliate for them through Commision Junction, where you can as well. Currently I earn $4 for every person who signs up through my link and the best part is that it does not cost a dime to sign up….EVER! If you would like to start saving money on purchases and earning contributions toward college, please click one of theUPromise.com linksand sign up. I think you will be happy that you did.

Some people are getting raises, while my paycheck stays the same….lol. Too bad this doesn’t equate to postal worker wages being raised.
Effective January 18, 2009, the U.S.P.S. will increase Flat Rate U.S. and International Priority Mail Rates.
The form that my post mistress gave me includes commercial base and commercial plus hikes also, but since I assume I do not qualify I will include only the retail changes. While the increase is not significant if looking at one or two packages, multiply that .15 x 20 and that is $3 more that is coming out of my bottom line.
Priority Mail Flat-Rate
Envelope- $4.95
Small Box- $4.95
Regular Box- $10.35
Large Box- $13.95
Large Box APO/FPO- $11.95
Priority Mail Flat-Rate International (appears to be a $1 increase)
envelope- $10.95 to Canada and Mexico
$12.95 all other countries
small box- $10.95
Regular box- $25.95
Large box- $32.95
Even with the increase, I will continue to use USPS for most of my postal needs. I can safely say that I have never had any auction lost in the mail when I have used Priority Service. I also feel that the Priority boxes make my auctions appear a bit more professional and saves me a considerable amount of time not having to “look” for boxes.
Actually, I think Priority Mail ultimately save me money even when I do not use the flat-rate boxes. Where else can you get that perfect sized box for free?

The blog is not hardly two weeks old yet and I am already straying from its purpose, but maybe you will forgive because it is for something f-r-e-e.
