Some people are getting raises, while my paycheck stays the same….lol. Too bad this doesn’t equate to postal worker wages being raised.
Effective January 18, 2009, the U.S.P.S. will increase Flat Rate U.S. and International Priority Mail Rates.
The form that my post mistress gave me includes commercial base and commercial plus hikes also, but since I assume I do not qualify I will include only the retail changes. While the increase is not significant if looking at one or two packages, multiply that .15 x 20 and that is $3 more that is coming out of my bottom line.
Priority Mail Flat-Rate
Envelope- $4.95
Small Box- $4.95
Regular Box- $10.35
Large Box- $13.95
Large Box APO/FPO- $11.95
Priority Mail Flat-Rate International (appears to be a $1 increase)
envelope- $10.95 to Canada and Mexico
$12.95 all other countries
small box- $10.95
Regular box- $25.95
Large box- $32.95
Even with the increase, I will continue to use USPS for most of my postal needs. I can safely say that I have never had any auction lost in the mail when I have used Priority Service. I also feel that the Priority boxes make my auctions appear a bit more professional and saves me a considerable amount of time not having to “look” for boxes.
Actually, I think Priority Mail ultimately save me money even when I do not use the flat-rate boxes. Where else can you get that perfect sized box for free?
